Mark A. Metzgar was admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico in October 2022. Mr. Metzgar is a native New Mexican who attended the University of New Mexico for both his undergraduate studies and his law school education. His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science cum laude, as well as his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
While in law school, Mr. Metzgar was consistently on the Honor Roll/Dean’s List. Notably, Mr. Metzgar was a Judicial Extern for the New Mexico Supreme Court Chief Justice C. Shannon Bacon, as well as a two-term Research Assistant for Assistant Professor Veronica Gonzales-Zamora where he helped prepare an evaluation on how the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure are taught in law schools across the country.
Prior to joining DIXON•SCHOLL•CARRILLO•P.A., Mr. Metzgar worked at the University of New Mexico School of Law, where he successfully petitioned for the release of an incarcerated minor. He also completed multiple law clerkships at civil defense litigation law firms in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he learned about and participated in the unique processes of civil defense litigation and personal injury representation. As an undergraduate, he served as a Fred R. Harris Congressional Intern where he worked for United States Senator Martin Heinrich and was a contributing author to a book on the global refugee crisis that was eventually published by the University of New Mexico Press in 2017.
After graduating from law school and successfully sitting for the bar exam, Mr. Metzgar joined DIXON•SCHOLL•CARRILLO•P.A., in June 2023 as an Associate Attorney
